The Testing and Commissioning Association (TACA) recently hosted two highly successful workshops in Western Australia, drawing strong attendance and enthusiastic participation from local HVAC+R professionals. These events provided valuable opportunities for hands-on learning, professional networking, and practical insights into commissioning processes and standards.
Importantly, these workshops were made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Refrigeration and Airconditioning Industry Association of WA (RACIWA). Their support played a vital role in enabling these sessions and advancing professional development opportunities for the HVAC+R community in WA.
Introduction to TACA & Commissioning for WA RAC Trades
📍 South Metropolitan TAFE, Carlisle Campus – Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Facility
Held at the state-of-the-art Carlisle Campus, the presentation covered key concepts of Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) processes and included a brief overview of the TACA Standards & Procedures Manual.
Whether participants were new to commissioning or looking to refine their skills, the presentation delivered clear, actionable insights. It was an informative session, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning in the evolving HVAC+R industry.
Special thanks to Darryl De Saran, TAFE lecturer, for hosting this event.

TACA Introduction & Stairwell Pressurisation Workshop
📍 Centigrade Group, Balcatta
The second workshop featured a hands-on demonstration of the AMCA ESM Stair POD, offering a rare opportunity to observe a Stair Pressure System in action. Hosted at Centigrade Group’s Balcatta facility, the session focused on the functional and performance testing requirements outlined in AS1668.1, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of stairwell pressurisation systems.
This workshop was particularly valuable for those looking to expand their commissioning expertise in fire safety and ventilation systems. The interactive format and real-world demonstrations made complex concepts accessible and engaging.
Special thanks to Michael Anthony, Managing Director at Centigrade, for supporting and hosting this event.

These events reflect TACA’s commitment to fostering professional development and sharing practical knowledge with HVAC+R professionals throughout WA.
Special thanks to Paul and Chris, who travelled to Perth to host these sessions. Their expertise and enthusiasm contributed to the strong turnout and overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees. TACA looks forward to continuing its mission of education and industry support through future events and initiatives across the country.
